PCI SSC releases payment security tool for small businesses
Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council (PCI SSC) has introduced a new payment security tool for small businesses.
The payment security tool will protect the card data of PCI SSC customers.
Moreover, the PCI Data Security Essential Evaluation Tool will allow these businesses to assess the security of their payment settings.
Small merchants are known to be prime targets for cyber-criminals. The Verizon Data Breach Investigations Report stated that nearly 61% of breached firms happen to be small merchants.
To address such payment security risks, PCI SSC has additionally updated the PCI Data Security Essentials Resources for small merchants.
The improved educational resources offer easy-to-use information for small merchants. That information will help them prevent potential threats to payment card data. The updates will address both existing and evolving fraud.
PCI SSC chief technology officer, Troy Leach said: “This new evaluation tool provides small businesses with awareness of the most common, critical risks for their environments and the proper resources to address potential threats.
“Additionally, the PCI Data Security Essentials Resources provide the right questions to ask their payment partners to have a dialogue on payment security.”
